Authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s tribal-dominated Mandla district razed eleven buildings built on government land as part of a major operation to combat illegal beef trade. Rajat Saklecha, Superintendent of Police (SP), offered details about the action, which was prompted by a tip regarding cows being kept for slaughter in Nainpur’s Bhainwahi district.

The Raid and Findings
Following the tip, a police crew quickly arrived at the scene and discovered 150 cows chained in the accused’s backyards. The raid discovered that cow meat was kept in refrigerators at all eleven houses. A chamber also contained animal fat, cattle skin, and bones, indicating that preparations for slaughter had taken place.

Confirmation and Legal Action
Local government veterinarians confirmed that the seized meat was beef. To ensure full verification, samples were transferred to Hyderabad for further DNA testing. Authorities decided to demolish the dwellings because they had been erected illegally on government land.

An FIR was filed on Friday night following the seizure of the cows and beef. One person has been arrested, while the search for the remaining ten suspects continues.

Cow relocation and legal consequences
The 150 rescued cows have been taken to a cattle refuge. SP Saklecha stated that Bhainwahi has become a notorious hub for cattle smuggling. Cow slaughter is a serious offense in Madhya Pradesh, punishable by up to seven years in prison.

Criminal History and Ongoing Investigations

Police sources revealed that two of the accused have prior criminal records, and investigations are underway to uncover more details about the others involved. It was noted that all the accused are Muslims.

This operation highlights the authorities’ continuous efforts to combat criminal activities related to cattle smuggling and the beef trade in the region. The demolition of the unlawfully constructed buildings acts as a strong signal against Madhya Pradesh’s breach of cow protection laws and regulations.
