BYD India has announced that it will begin bookings for the eMax 7 electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) starting September 21, 2024. Customers can secure their booking with a token amount of ₹51,000. The eMax 7 is expected to be officially launched on October 8, 2024, and bookings can be made online or at any authorized BYD dealership across the country.
Overview of the eMax 7
The eMax 7 is essentially an updated version of the e6, which was BYD’s inaugural model in India, launched in 2021. The new model features several cosmetic updates and additional features compared to its predecessor.

The center console has been revised to include two wireless charging pads and updated switchgear, as well as a new drive selector lever. The vehicle also features a new steering wheel design, though the instrument cluster continues to use analogue dials.

Internationally, the eMax 7 will offer two battery pack options. The first is a 55.4 kWh unit, which has a claimed range of 420 kilometers, and the second is a larger 71.8 kWh unit that provides a range of 530 kilometers. The output varies with the battery size: 163 horsepower for the smaller battery and 204 horsepower for the larger battery. Both options will deliver a torque rating of 310 Nm.
BYD has previously offered the 71.8 kWh battery with the e6 model in India, and it is anticipated that this battery option will continue with the eMax 7. The availability of the smaller battery option in India remains uncertain.
Market Positioning and Pricing
Upon its launch, the BYD eMax 7 will be positioned against competitors such as the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto. Preliminary reports indicate that the pricing for the eMax 7 is expected to be in the range of ₹30 lakh to ₹33 lakh (ex-showroom).
