CLAT 2025 Registration Starts Today: Everything You Need to Know
The Consortium of National Law Universities has announced that registration for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2025) will open today, July 15, 2024. Aspiring candidates can apply online at consortiumofnlus.ac.in until October 15, 2024. The exam is set for December 1, 2024, from 2 PM to 4 PM, with an extension to 4:40 PM for PwD applicants.
The purpose of the exam
CLAT is an important exam for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs at 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) and other participating institutions in India.
Eligibility Criteria
- UG Program: Candidates must have finished their 10+2 education or equivalent with at least 45% (40% for restricted categories).
- PG Program: Applicants must have an LLB degree with at least 50% marks (45% for restricted categories).
- There is no age limit for candidates, and individuals taking qualifying exams in March/April 2025 are eligible to apply.
Required Documents
To complete the registration, candidates will need to provide the following:
- A recent passport-sized photo.
- Signature Category certificate (if applicable).
- PwD Certificate (if relevant)
- Domicile Certificate (if applicable)
Application Fee
- General, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO, and OCI applicants pay Rs 4,000.
- SC/ST candidates: Rs 3,500
How to Apply
- Visit the official CLAT website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in
- Register by completing the relevant information and verifying with an OTP.
- Complete the registration process by uploading the relevant documents.
- Pay the application fee: Rs 4,000 for general categories and Rs 3,500 for SC/ST categories.
- Please submit the form and print the confirmation page for your records.
Marking Scheme
For the UG exam, candidates will need to answer 120 questions divided into five sections:
- English Language
- Current Affairs and General Knowledge
- Logical Reasoning
- Legal Reasoning
- Quantitative Techniques
The exam duration is two hours.

About CLAT
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national admission exam administered by the Consortium of NLUs. It is intended for entrance to the five-year integrated LLB (UG) and one-year LLM (PG) programs. The test is administered using a pen and paper, with UG applicants answering questions about English, Legal Reasoning, Current Affairs and General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Mathematics. The PG course test covers topics such as Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, CPC, Family Law, Torts, IPC, CrPC, and IPR.
