On Friday, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper trains will begin service within the next two months. He stated that the trainset is being completed at a quick pace, with all technical aspects nearing completion. The trainset, constructed by BEML Ltd at its Bangalore rail operation, claims to provide travelers with more mobility and comfort while complying to worldwide standards.

Minister Vaishnaw praised the Vande Bharat sleeper trains’ advanced technical characteristics and strong safety procedures. The train bodies are made of high-quality austenitic stainless steel, with crash-worthy features integrated into the crash buffers and couplers. These materials fulfill strict fire safety standards, including EN45545 HL3 grade criteria.

The trainsets will have 16 compartments: one AC First Class, four AC Two-Tier, and eleven AC Three-Tier, for a total of 823 beds.
Enhanced User Experience
These trains have enhanced soundproofing, smoother acceleration and deceleration, user-friendly restrooms, an aerodynamic exterior, a modular pantry, and a public announcement and visual information system. The trains will also have effective braking systems with a deceleration rate of 0.8 m/s2 during full service and a maximum deceleration of 1 m/s2 at any speed. The broad-gauge (1676 mm) trainsets promise a superior travel experience for passengers.
