AeroGlide Design: Sleek, Modern, and Functional

The MG Windsor EV incorporates MG’s signature AeroGlide Design, a harmonious blend of aerodynamics and craftsmanship. This design ensures that the vehicle not only looks striking but also contributes to improved performance by reducing drag. The vehicle’s distinct exterior is characterized by an illuminated front logo, LED head and tail lights, flush door handles, and bold 18-inch Diamond Cut Alloy wheels. These features are not just aesthetically appealing but also add to the vehicle’s stability and road presence.

One of the standout attributes is its wheelbase, the largest in its segment, which measures an impressive 2,700mm. The Windsor EV’s dimensions further elevate its stature, standing at 4,295mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,677mm in height, making it larger than many of its direct competitors. It’s almost the size of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, ensuring ample interior space and a commanding presence on the road.

Powertrain and Performance: Electric Power Redefined

Under the hood, the MG Windsor EV is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is paired with a 38kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. This IP67-rated battery ensures durability and reliability, especially in varied weather conditions. The motor generates 136PS of maximum power and 200Nm of peak torque, giving the vehicle ample power for city driving and highway cruising.

In terms of range, the Windsor EV promises a range of 331km on a single full charge, making it suitable for both daily commutes and longer journeys. The electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV) is classified as a Born Electric Vehicle (BEV), meaning it has been designed from the ground up as an electric vehicle, further enhancing its futuristic design and performance capabilities.

Interior and Comfort: Designed for the Modern Driver

The MG Windsor EV doesn’t just excel on the outside. Inside, it offers a spacious and luxurious cabin that caters to comfort and convenience. The aero-lounge seats are designed to provide maximum comfort for both the driver and passengers. The front ventilated seats ensure comfort even during the hottest days, while the argyle-inspired seat upholstery adds a touch of style and sophistication.

The interior is further enhanced by a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports both wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Drivers and passengers can also enjoy features like automatic climate control with a physical control panel, ensuring ease of use. Additionally, the 9-speaker sound system and PM 2.5 air filter provide a premium in-car experience.

For rear-seat passengers, the 60:40 split rear seat with a 135-degree recline angle ensures comfort during longer journeys. The spacious interior and thoughtful design features cater to both comfort and practicality, making the Windsor EV a strong contender in the electric SUV market.

Technology and Connectivity: Packed with Advanced Features

One of the most exciting technological advancements in the MG Windsor EV is the introduction of the MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform (MG-Jio ICP). This platform allows for seamless connectivity and enhanced vehicle management. With over 80 connected features, the Windsor EV offers an advanced level of smart vehicle operation, including a digital Bluetooth key for remote vehicle operations.

The iSmart connectivity technology allows drivers to stay connected on the go, offering features such as real-time vehicle diagnostics, navigation, and even voice command functionality. Additional premium features include a powered tailgate for added convenience and more than 36 standard safety features, ensuring that both driver and passengers are protected at all times.

Ownership Experience: Comprehensive Warranty and Packages

One of the most attractive aspects of the MG Windsor EV is its 3+3+3 ownership package, which provides a comprehensive ownership experience. This package includes:

  • Three years of comprehensive manufacturer warranty,
  • Three years of roadside assistance,
  • No labor charges for the first three years.

Additionally, MG Motor India is offering a lifetime warranty with unlimited kilometres on the Windsor EV battery for first owners, ensuring peace of mind for buyers. However, the company has yet to specify who qualifies as first owners, leaving room for further clarification.

In terms of resale value, the Windsor EV is expected to retain 60% of its original cost even after three years, making it a strong option for those looking for long-term ownership or future resale.

Pricing and Availability: A Competitive Advantage

Although prices for all variants of the MG Windsor EV have yet to be announced, the starting price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) places it in direct competition with some of the most popular electric vehicles in India. It undercuts the price of the Tata Nexon EV, which starts at ₹12.49 lakh, as well as the Mahindra XUV400, priced at ₹15.49 lakh. Even the smaller Punch EV shares the same starting price of ₹9.99 lakh, making the Windsor EV a compelling choice in the sub-₹10 lakh EV segment.

Bookings for the Windsor EV will commence on October 3, with test drives starting from September 25. Deliveries are scheduled to begin on October 12, giving potential buyers ample time to experience the vehicle before making a purchase decision.

Comparison with Competitors: Size and Features Set It Apart

While the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and Punch EV are all sub-4 metre electric SUVs, the MG Windsor EV offers significantly more space, both in terms of interior room and overall dimensions. With a length of 4,295mm, it rivals larger SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, making it one of the largest EVs in its price bracket.

In addition to its size advantage, the Windsor EV comes equipped with advanced technology and a feature-packed interior, making it a standout choice for those looking for both practicality and luxury in an electric vehicle.

Conclusion: A Game Changer in the EV Market

The MG Windsor EV combines advanced design, powerful performance, cutting-edge technology, and a competitive price to position itself as a major player in the Indian EV market. With its AeroGlide Design, spacious interior, and comprehensive ownership package, it offers exceptional value for money. As the electric vehicle market in India continues to evolve, the Windsor EV is well-positioned to capture the attention of buyers looking for a reliable, stylish, and feature-rich electric SUV.
