Om Birla (born November 23, 1962)[2] is an Indian politician and businessman who is now the 18th Speaker of the Lok Sabha since June 19, 2019. He has been a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha since 2014, representing the Kota constituency in Rajasthan.[3] In 2024, he became the first MP in 20 years to be re-elected to the lower house after serving as Lok Sabha Speaker, and one of just two MPs to be named speaker twice.[4][5] He also served as a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from 2003 until 2014, representing the Kota South Assembly district. He is a member of the BJP. He was a candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha Speaker Election as the NDA candidate and was elected. He is the third time winner from Kota.
