As soon as Air India acknowledged the incident, it began an investigation into the subject. Chief Customer Experience Officer Rajesh Dogra verified that the metal object discovered in the food came from their catering partner’s vegetable processing facility.
“Air India confirms that a visitor on one of our flights had a foreign object discovered in their meal. Investigation has shown that it originates from the vegetable processing equipment at our catering partner’s facility,” Dogra said.
Air India has worked with their catering partner to strengthen safety protocols in the wake of the event. To avoid reoccurring incidents, these include doing more frequent checks of the processing machinery, particularly after handling tough vegetables. Passenger safety and satisfaction remain a top priority for Air India, and they are committed to maintaining high standards of service and quality in all aspects of their operations, Dogra said.
