Tata Punch EV Scores 5-Star Rating in Bharat NCAP Crash Test

In a significant achievement, the Tata Punch EV has secured a 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test. Demonstrating exceptional safety standards, the Punch EV scored 31.46 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 points in child occupant protection.

In specific crash test evaluations, the Punch EV excelled, scoring 15.71 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 15.74 out of 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. The variant tested was the Empowered+ S Long Range, but the 5-star rating extends to the entire lineup, covering both medium-range and long-range trims. These tests were conducted in April 2024.

The Tata Punch EV is equipped with a suite of safety features as standard across all variants. These include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a speed alert system, and a reverse parking camera.

Regarding pricing, the Tata Punch EV is available in two battery pack options. The standard variant starts at ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the long-range variant is priced at ₹12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch EV competes with the Citroen eC3 in terms of pricing in the electric vehicle market.

In addition to the Punch EV, the Bharat NCAP also released the crash rating for the Nexon EV, which similarly achieved a 5-star rating, underscoring Tata’s commitment to safety in its electric vehicle lineup.
